has now been prompted into life through my work as a creative practitioner in schools. In preparation for exploring the senses through wind I have begun playing with making mobiles and have quickly been drawn into the wonders of making structures that oscillate according to the length of horizontal bars the distribution & weight of suspended elements, length of line, etc
Mesmerised by oscillations and fascinated with the dancing shadows I am able to cast from the structures, more playing has taken place.
The results of which have led me to try this idea out in a theatre setting. To do this the suspended elements had to be scaled up & suspended horizontally so the shadows cast would be bold enough to be seen.
The stage floor in this case was at Northern Stage, Newcastle, where Cinzia Hardy (Theatre Producer) & I were enjoying 'Time in Two', developing ideas arising from 'Traces & Graces' a dance theatre piece we collaborated on last year, shortlisted for the Journal Culture Awards 2009.
